OMNA is the operational naming authority established by WAP (as WAP
Interim Naming Authority - WINA) and inherited by OMA. The goal of OMNA
is to foster interoperability and compatibility between implementations
utilizing OMA technology through the registration and mediation of assigned
names and numbers. OMNA is specifically concerned with names and numbers
not already administered by other bodies (e.g., IANA).
OMNA Process
The current OMNA process is based on the WINA process established by
WAP. Until an OMA version is developed, the WAP
WINA process document
should be used as a guide. It describes the overall purpose of OMNA,
how numbers and names are allocated, etc. Please read this document
before submitting a request for an assigned name or number.
Requests for Assigned Names or Numbers
Requests for OMNA assigned names or numbers should be submitted via
the OMNA request form by selecting the appropriate Name Space. Requests
will be reviewed by the OMNA Secretary and the Operations and Process
Committee, and will be granted if they fulfill the requirements outlined
in the Process document. The assignment of a name or number will be
recorded in the OMNA database.
To get to a form to submit a request, there is a link available on
the relevant pages listed below. Alternatively, this
page has links to each of them.
OMNA Administration
OMNA is administered by the Operations and Process Committee. The
OMNA Secretary can be reached by sending mail to OMA-OMNA.
If you have comments on OMNA or the OMNA processes, please contact either
the Operations and Process Committee or the OMNA Secretary.
